Introduction

304 Austenitic Stainless Steel (UNS S30400 / 18/8 stainless steel) is the most widely used austenitic stainless steel grade, containing 18% chromium and 8% nickel. It offers excellent corrosion resistance, good oxidation resistance up to ~870°C, high ductility, and outstanding formability, drawing, and welding properties. 304 stainless steel sheetplateround barseamless pipewelded tubestripcoilwire, and fasteners are commonly supplied for applications in food processing equipment, kitchen sinks, chemical containers, heat exchangers, architectural trim, dairy and brewing equipment, marine components, pressure vessels, and pharmaceutical systems. For welded heavy-gauge structures, 304L stainless steel (low carbon version, UNS S30403) can be offered to avoid intergranular corrosion in the heat-affected zone. Available per ASTM A240A276A312A269, or customer specifications.

Applications

(1)Food processing equipment – 304 food grade stainless steel is used for storage tanks, mixing vats, conveyor belts, and dairy pipelines, where cleanliness and 304 corrosion resistant stainless steel properties are critical. This 304 chromium nickel stainless steel offers excellent formability and weldability.

(2)Kitchen equipment – 304 stainless steel for kitchen equipment includes sinks, countertops, cookware, and commercial appliances. 304 cold rolled stainless steel sheet with a 2B or No.4 finish provides easy cleaning and good corrosion resistance from food acids.

(3)Chemical industry – 304 stainless steel for chemical industry applications includes atmospheric tanks, reactors, agitators, and piping. 304 austenitic stainless steel plate (also known as SUS304 stainless steel or 1.4301 stainless steel plate) resists a broad range of mild chemicals and organic acids.

(4)Construction & architecture – 304 stainless steel for construction covers building facades, handrails, elevator panels, and kitchen backsplashes. ASTM A240 Type 304 stainless steel sheet with No.4 or mirror finish offers aesthetic appeal and long‑term durability.

(5)Water tanks – 304 stainless steel for water tank fabrication is common for potable water and sanitary storage. 304 non-magnetic stainless steel provides good corrosion resistance in fresh water and mild chloride environments.

(6)Marine components (mild exposure) – 304 plate serves in boat fittings, deck hardware, and pier structures where chloride exposure is moderate. Its 304 corrosion resistant stainless steel properties ensure reliable service in coastal atmospheres.

(7)Dairy and beverage processing – 304 stainless steel plate is the standard material for fermentation tanks, pasteurizers, and filling lines due to its ease of cleaning and 304 corrosion resistance.
